Facebook contest: Win a pair of tix to NYFF Closing Night “The Wrestler”

From Rushmore to My Own Private Idaho, Mystery Train to Dancer in the Dark, the number of influential films that have appeared in the New York Film Festival during its more than 40 year history is vast.

We want to know your favorite. Write it on the wall and you could win a chance to attend Closing Night of the New York Film Festival to see Darren Aronofsky’s new film, The Wrestler!

Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler

With his hearing aid and graying hair, pro wrestler Randy “The Ram” Robinson may be past his prime, but Mickey Rourke has never been better than he is in the title role of Aronofsky’s seriocomic, existentialist wrestling drama.

To play:

1. Decide on your favorite film that’s played in the New York Film Festival. Need some inspiration? Click here
2. Post the TITLE of your favorite film and one sentence on why it’s your favorite on the Wall of the Film Society of Lincoln Center Fan Page

To be eligible:

You must name a film that has played in a New York Film Festival any year since its inception. See full archive for more details.
You must enter only once.
PLEASE NOTE: You need not have seen a film in the festival to be eligible. However, you must select a film that has played in festivals past in order to enter.

The winner will be chosen at random from the pool of eligible wall posts. The winner will receive two tickets to the Closing Night screening of the Wrestler at the New York Film Festival on Sunday October 12 at 8:30 p.m.

The winner will be chosen on September 26, 2008, to coincide with the Opening Night of the New York Film Festival.

Good luck!
